Frequently Asked Questions

What is your standard shipping process?

We will package and crate your goods accordingly, ready for transit, and they will be transported to the export yard.

You (or your broker) will be given relevant documentation to allow for importing, customs clearance, and release of the goods at the destination port.

When the goods arrive you (or your broker) will organise import activities and delivery to final location.

Air freight vs. Sea freight - which is better?

If you are on a strict timeline, air freight is quicker but more expensive. Sea freight is a good option if you are not time-restricted or want a cheaper option.

The goods will be shipped to the closest available port. Not all ports are equipped to receive goods and we will endeavour to ship to the closest available to your location.

Due to height restrictions on air freight, the Zella Hut 25/38 can only be shipped by sea.

What are standard shipping times?

Air freight is about a week to ten days. Sea freight depends on location but generally ranges between 30 and 65 days.

Shipping times are estimated only, and we cannot control delays once goods have been dispatched from our packaging yard.

What do I need to organise?

Based on our standard door-to-port delivery, all you need to do is organise a local customs broker/agent/freight forwarder. They will work with our Logistics team to organise importing activities, customs clearance and delivery to the final location.

Can you deliver door to door?

In most cases, yes, we can. The cost will be higher, and your company will have to issue a POA (Power of Attorney) to allow our broker to import the goods on your behalf.

Having a local customs broker gives you more control and visibility over the process, as they are familiar with your country’s import requirements and local geography.

Zella DC is likely in a different time zone so communication can also be somewhat delayed.

Who covers import charges and/or duties?

The customer bears all local costs, either directly or indirectly if you use a broker, which will be determined once goods reach the destination sea/airport.

Can Zella DC provide a fixed quote for freight?

Unfortunately, freight costs and exchange rates can vary significantly over time. We can honour a quote for one month, after which we will need to requote.

For budgeting purposes, we suggest you add 10% to allow for fluctuations.

Can I arrange my own freight?

No problem! We will provide relevant documentation to you for your logistics team/freight forwarder and make the goods available for pick up from our factory, packaged and ready to go.

Please note we can only store an order for no more than one week.
