What is included in a Zella DC micro data centre?
Every Zella DC indoor or outdoor micro data centre is a fully integrated, plug-and-play solution that includes:
- 19″ rack enclosure
- Smart automation (Zella Sense) including remote management and monitoring
- Intelligent PDU (Power Distribution Unit)
- Precision cooling system
- Switchboard
- Advanced cyber and physical security features
- Fire protection and suppression system (optional)
- UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and batteries (optional)
Once on site, it only needs to be connected to power. You then install your preferred IT equipment and start operating.
What’s not included in a micro data centre and why
Zella DC does not supply or install the following:
- Servers
- Storage devices
- Switches or routers
- Communications systems (routers, modems, etc.)
This is by design. Many of our customers already have preferred hardware vendors or need to adhere to internal IT standards. Our vendor-agnostic approach ensures:
- Freedom to choose your own equipment
- Easier integration with existing infrastructure
- No vendor lock-in
- Faster procurement and deployment
Whether you use Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Cisco, or other OEMs, your gear will fit seamlessly into any of our indoor or outdoor micro data centres.
Common misconceptions about micro data centres
Many traditional data centre solutions bundle servers and networking gear. While this can seem convenient, it often creates compatibility issues and long-term inflexibility. Zella DC takes the opposite approach: we provide the infrastructure, and you customise the contents.
Some customers also confuse micro data centres with converged infrastructure or hyper-converged solutions. While these may ship pre-populated with IT equipment, they don’t offer the flexibility, portability, or edge-readiness of a Zella DC unit.
